Advanced Rock Seminar
A week-long course featuring advanced climbing movement instruction, placing gear and building anchors, top-rope set-up, and sport lead climbing. Locations Dates Itinerary The following is a sample of a possible itinerary for the remainder of a typical advanced rock course: Day 2: Advanced climbing movement: handholds (crimp, open, underclings, pinches), footholds (smears, edges, hooks), static/dynamic balance, reaches (straight, frog, cross-over, backstep, flab, rock-on), timing and co-ordination, mental aspects. Day 3: Toprope climbing - continued application of advanced climbing movement. Days 4 - 5: Sport climbing intro: lead climbing sport routes is the natural progression from top-roping. We will spend two days dealing with the safety and performance aspects of lead climbing, culminating in giving participants the chance to "take the sharp end" in a controlled and safety-oriented environment. Days 5-7: Multi-pitch climbing. By this time we will be itching to take on the big faces. Three days will be spent attempting various multi-pitch rock climbing routes, and climbs from 3 to 10 pitches in length (100 m to 400 m) could be on the agenda. Cost What you provide
