ROCK
Intro Weekends are two-day outdoor programmes that will introduce
you and your friends to the world of rock climbing!
Locations
Typical areas are Heart Creek, Wasootch,
and Yamnuska Bluffs which are close to Calgary and the Bow Valley
and are ideal introductory rock climbing venues.
Itinerary
The first day of the course,
spent at a local crag, is filled with rock climbing workshops,
including: |
- Gear selection, use and care
- Moving on Rock: flow, balance, technique:
hand-holds and footholds, lay-back, opposition, jamming,
efficiency, and more!
- mountaineering knots/rope systems
- route-finding
- rappelling
- historical perspective
The second day is set aside for practising
climbing skills and enjoying the mountain environment is usually
held at a different crag. |

There are no age restrictions or experience requirements,
as rock climbing workshops are designed on an individual basis.
Cost
$275 CDN per person for groups of
two or more. The fee for a single student (1:1 ratio) is $505. Equipment
rental, food, and transportation not included in this fee. Equipment
may be provided for an additional $15 fee.

Your own equipment, food, accommodation,
transportation, and insurance (accident, travel, medical, trip cancellation).
